The Best Beaches in Greece

The best beaches in Greece for me are all situated on the wonderful Cyclades, one of many groups of islands which from part of the hundreds of inhabited Greek Islands. The below lists my top 6 best beaches in the Greek islands of Milos, Ios, Paros, Naxos and the only non-Cyclades island of Crete.

6. Sarakiniko Beach, Milos

Sarakiniko Beach, Milos
Not your typical beach, but this has been included more for its uniqueness. This is more of a beach “to say you have been to” rather than one where you can relax. Half a day spent here is more than enough. The best beach in Milos is further down the list.

5. Limnes Beach, Paros

Limnes Beach, Paros
One of the lesser know beaches in Greece, but this was basically my own private beach when I visited. The beach is directly between the towns of Nauossa and Kolympithres and I would highly recommend. My own paradise, the best beach in Paros.

4. One Rock Beach, Crete

One Rock Beach, Crete
One of my favourite beaches of my Europe trip and the best beach in Crete for me. The One Rock beach is located south of Crete in a place called Plakias.

3. Firiplaka Beach, Milos

Firiplaka Beach, Milos
This was a beautiful, albeit one of the busier beaches I visited. Beautiful sand and turquoise, clear shallow sea. The benefit of visiting Firiplaka is that you have the smaller Tsigrado beach to your left. One of the best beaches in Milos.

2. Tsigrado Beach, Milos

Tsigrado Beach, Milos
The Tsigrado beach is nestled in a beautiful, little cove. It is the one of the most difficult beaches to get to. You have to climb down two ladders and be assisted by a rope on your descent. However its certainly worth it when you get to the bottom. Another one of the best beaches in Milos.

1. Plaka Beach, Naxos

Plaka Beach, Naxos
Plaka Beach, the best beach in Greece and my favourite beach in Europe. A busier beach, but due to the sheer size of it there’s plenty of room around you. It’s the perfect combination of golden sand and turquoise blue sea. Not only that there’s plenty of places to eat nearby, which can’t be said about most of the other Greek beaches. The best beach in Naxos and the best beach in Greece. How to get to Naxos?

The secret to finding the best beaches in Greece

Limnes Beach, ranked at #5 is one of the lesser known beaches in Greece and is one of our favourites because of the fact nobody knows about it and there was only a handful of people here.

Remember, the well known beaches aren’t necessarily the best beaches. We’d recommend venturing a little bit east or west of the famous beaches and you may just find your own private paradise beach, just like we did!
