Naxos Island, Cyclades, Greece
Naxos Island, part of the Cyclades group of islands, is one of my favourite Greek Islands and is certainly worth a trip if you are in Greece. Naxos also has some of the best beaches in Greece, so is one not to be missed out!
How to get to Naxos?
The best way to get to Naxos is by ferry or by plane from Athens.
I personally prefer getting the ferry to Naxos as the whole process is much less stressful. There is also plenty of things to do on-board and more than enough room to stretch your legs!
Whether you decide to get to Naxos by ferry or plane, both options require you to be in Athens first.
How to get to Naxos by Ferry?
There are two ports to choose from in Athens, however I would recommend Piraeus port as it is easier to get to.
If you are in Athens City Centre, you will need to take the metro, bus or taxi to Piraeus.
Piraeus to Naxos Ferry
There are several daily crossings to choose from. Generally two at around 07:00 in the morning and an evening crossing at around 17:30. Ferry crossings are run by two companies: SeaJets and Blue Star Ferries.
How to get ferry tickets to Naxos?
I always buy my ferry tickets to Greek Islands from ferryhopper.com – the website shows all available companies and ferry crossings.
For the Piraeus to Naxos ferry crossing, prices range from €20 – €60, dependent on time and the day you travel.
On the ferryhopper.com website, Seajets offer e-tickets but Blue Star Ferries do not. If you book with Blue Star Ferries you have to collect your tickets from the Ferry Hopper office in Athens or from a Blue Star Ferries office at the port.
